Could Emmy Be Bigger Than Oscar?

The day after watching 12 Years a Slave win Best Picture at the 86th Academy Awards, I sat down to watch the season finale of True Detective. The show had unfortunately aired against the Oscars, and I made the choice to watch some solid movies be declared “the best” in one category or another. The irony of it all: The real “best” everything was airing on HBO that night. This isn’t a new phenomenon. We’ve been talking about how television is better than film for years now. It’s something that started with The Sopranos and The Wire going on right up until Breaking Bad, Mad Men and True Detective. The storytelling is richer on TV these days and the productions more cinematic. Even the pop programs like Scandal, Arrow and Vampire Diaries are more entertaining than any comparable film....

More Images Of THE FLASH In Action

Posted by on Mar 14, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

Oh, CW, you’re going to have some splainin’ to do. The first, rather ridiculous images of Grant Gustin in action in full costume for The Flash have hit the web… and we’ll. Just look: Yep, that’s our new Flash. Seeing the full Flash costume last week, I didn’t have much to say, but reflecting on it and these images… well… let’s just say the CW is going to have to do some serious work to convince us that this rather clumsy looking Flash getup is made for speed. I’m still on board, if only because in Kreisberg, Berlanti and Guggenheim I trust. But given the chance they had to remake The Flash costume, it’s odd that the went with… this. What do you...

THE FLASH Full Costume Revealed!

Posted by on Mar 11, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

Last week we got our first glimpse of Grant Gustin in costume as the Flash from the upcoming CW TV Series from the creators of Arrow. And it was amazing. This week, we finally get to see the full Flash costume. Check it out: Seeing the full thing, I’m sure they have some explaining to do as to how, why he has the suit he does. After all, the Arrow-verse is a little more grounded than most superhero shows/movies. But something tells me Oliver Quinn is the guy who paid for this low-paid public worker’s fancy new clothes. Source:...

WB Is Going Day And Date With VERONICA MARS

Posted by on Feb 24, 2014 in The Pictures, The Tube | 0 comments

If you don’t live in one of the maybe dozen cities that will actually be playing the Veronica Mars movie in a theater, don’t fret. Warner Bros. has announced that they plan a day and date release on VOD for the crowd-funded return of Ms. Mars. When the film drops in theaters on March 14, Veronica Mars will also be available on iTunes, Amazon and other VOD outlets. Part of the release strategy steams from the fact that Kickstarter donors who gave $35 or more were set to receive a digital copy of the film after the theatrical release. Well, it looks like that digital copy will be delivered on the same day instead of having to wait a week or two. For Warner Bros., this gives them a chance to experiment with day and date VOD releasing, something the major...

HEROES Is Coming Back To NBC For Some Reason…

Posted by on Feb 24, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

No matter how hard I tried to convince myself that NBC’s superhero saga Heroes was worth my time, I always ended up hating the show. Not just casually dismissing it. Not just ignoring it. No, I hated the show. Outside of one episode is season one written by Bryan Fuller chronicling the history of Horn-Rimmed Glasses, the show never even came close to being top shelf genre fare. It just sucked. So it comes as a surprise that the show that started and ended on a whimper is coming back to NBC in 2015 for a 13-episode miniseries. The program, titled Heroes Reborn (snooze), won’t bring back many of the show’s major character, which is probably a good thing. But it will bring back Tim Kring, the man who made the show as bad as it was.  If NBC had any...

DC Planning (Another) Animated Universe Beginning With JUSTICE LEAGUE: WAR

Posted by on Feb 4, 2014 in VOD | 0 comments

Seems you can’t do anything with superheroes these days unless you’re planning a whole universe around your properties. And while DC and Warner Bros. attempt to get a live action universe off the ground, the animation guys, much like the TV guys, are way ahead of in the game. In speaking with Comic Book Resources, Justice League: War producer James Tucker says the plan is to have a New 52-inspired animation-verse: This will definitely be the first salvo in doing new movies that are in continuity with each other… Our next movie’s going to be Son of Batman, and that Batman will be the same Batman that you see in Justice League: War. Basically, we’ll have two concurrent series of Justice League movies and Batman movies, and they’ll be in continuity with each other. So it’s kind of world-building. Of course,...
