Everything We Think We Know About TRUE DETECTIVE Season 2 Is Wrong

Posted by on Jun 13, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

Think Brad Pitt and Christian Bale are going to star in True Detective season 2? Think again. And pretty much every other rumor you’ve heard about the upcoming season of HBO’s acclaimed drama is not true either. At least that’s what we’ve learned from Nic Pizzolatto, who went into rumor control mode at the Banff World Media Festival, saying: Literally, not a single rumour about casting that has been printed anywhere has any truth to it whatsoever… I mean that literally. I’ve seen entertainment reporters say ‘My sources say . . . ‘ There are no sources. There’s me and two other guys and they don’t even know what I’m doing. So has anyone been cast? “No.” So is there a female lead or what? “There is a strong female character. But I wouldn’t say it is female-led or anything like that.”...

Spielberg Planning An ALL THE WAY Mini-Series For Bryan Cranston

Posted by on Jun 10, 2014 in Big News, The Tube | 0 comments

Just a day after winning Best Play and Best Actor at the Tony’s, All the Way, which chronicles LBJ‘s attempt to get the 88th Congress to pass civil rights legislation, may already have a TV mini-series adaptation in the works… from none other than Steven Spielberg. According to Deadline, Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is eyeing a production of the award-winning play complete with Bryan Cranston reprising his role as Landslide Lyndon. Since it is a mini-series and not a feature film, Deadline is also speculating that it may involve All the Way playwright Robert Schenkkan’s soon-to-premiere sequel The Great Society. It’s not yet known where the mini-series will find a home, but you can bet that HBO is at the top of the list given Spielberg’s history with the premium cabler. The only downside to this whole thing is that I was hoping All the Way would become a...

TRUE DETECTIVE Season 2 Will Take Place In California, Have 3 Leads

Posted by on May 27, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

Anyone who watched the first season of True Detective is dying to know more about the second. Anything at all. Why? Because the show really is that damn good. I’ve watched it twice. Thankfully, MTV has come to the rescue with details about the season two, by way of a “To the Best of Our Knowledge” interview with the show’s creator Nic Pizzolatto. Here’s the essential pull: Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one… The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them. We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts,...

Charlie Cox To Star In Netflix & Marvel’s DAREDEVIL

Posted by on May 27, 2014 in Big News, The Tube | 1 comment

The rumor mill started up today, but it looks like THR has confirmation: Stardust and Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox will play Daredevil in the upcoming series from Netflix and Marvel. Good news for people who want to be distracted from the fact that Drew Goddard is no longer in charge of the show. Now I’m sure there are people who are more familiar with Mr. Cox than I am. I’ve never seen, nor had the urge to see, Stardust. And Boardwalk Empire? Well, that pilot was good, but… Well, before I piss of Boardwalk Empire fans, I’ll just say, great. It’s kinda dreamy in the picture above, so that’s good enough for...

Patrick Brennan Joins AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. As Blackout

Posted by on Mar 31, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

It’s been, well, months since I’ve watched an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I know I’m not the only person who can say that. Still, that has deterred ABC, Marvel and the S.H.I.E.L.D. crew from pulling out all the stops for the show’s final episodes of the season. There are movie crossovers, guest appearances by film stars, and most importantly the introduction of new villains from the Marvel universe. The latest addition is Patrick Brennan as Marcus Daniels a.k.a. Blackout.  In an interview on Marvel.com, Brennan describe his character this way: This guy… was shrouded in darkness, his soul, everything about him was shrouded in darkness until he comes across this Cello player. And the music was the only light that came into his soul, and it gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light...

First Look: Donal Logue As Harvey Bullock In GOTHAM

Posted by on Mar 20, 2014 in The Tube | 0 comments

After months of casting news and other story tidbits, Fox finally released the first image from Gotham, featuring Donal Logue as the hard-scrabble, Batman-hating detective. All hope for the show may have gone out the window when Fox’s Kevin Reilly described the show this way: “We will follow Bruce Wayne right up until the point where he gets interesting.” But at least Harvey Bullock looks about right, eh? Well, cleaner that I would have imagined, but close. I still don’t understand how Gotham is going to work in terms of use of the villains (Catwoman would be like 8). I don’t understand how it’s going to work with Gordon and Bullock either. The show really doesn’t make much sense. This being Batman, if they focus on making the villain interesting, then they could have a show on their hands. But if we’re in police procedural hell, you...
