ZOMBIELAND and JACKASS sequels coming in 3D

Just when you thought 3D would be limited to animated movies, low-budget slasher flicks, and Smurf epics, two sequels are being planned that will take full advantage of the cinematic resurgence of the format. A sequel to the hit zombie comedy Zombieland will be filmed in 3D, according to Variety. Sony is busy getting everyone signed. With $75 million in the bank, who wouldn’t? And this one could be even more fun than My Bloody Valentine in 3D, as long as more body parts are flying at the audience. Of course, the more unlikely contender for a 3D sequel is Jackass. Paramount is said to be getting Johnny Knoxville and the gang back together for the picture. Good luck boys. I’d like to see how you make sticking a matchbox car in someone’s rectum work in 3D. New DAYBREAKERS trailer

Posted by on Dec 1, 2009 in Trailers | 1 comment

Am I overdosing on awards coverage after only two days? Man. I guess it’s time for a genre movie trailer to bring me back down to Earth. Of course, it is a genre movie with Ethan Hawke. And it’s more of a genre-blending movie, Vamps and sci-fi. Okay, I’m through rationalizing my reasons for this post. Please proceed calmly to the synopsis, courtesy of Lionsgate: The year is 2019. It’s all up to Edward Dalton, a vampire researcher who refuses to feed on human blood, to perfect a blood substitute that might sustain vampires and spare the...

MY FAIR LADY has Madden at the helm

Posted by on Dec 1, 2009 in The Pictures | 0 comments

Variety reports that Shakespeare in Love helmer John Madden is in talks to direct Columbia’s remake of the classic movie musical My Fair Lady. Right now, no one is signed to star in the picture, something that Madden will remedy in the new year.  (Keira Knightley has long been attached to the film, but it’s uncertain whether she’ll actually get the role of Eliza Doolittle.) The original My Fair Lady movie from 1964 took in $72 million at the domestic box office, which equals about $430 million adjusted for inflation. The film also won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for George Cukor, and Best Actor for Rex Harrison. The remake, produced by Duncan Kenworthy and West End legend Cameron Mackintosh, will reportedly remain more faithful to Alan Jay Lerner’s original...
