Hunger Games: Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman in Capitol Couture
The folks over at Lionsgate really know how to use social media in promoting their biggest franchise property: The Hunger Games. (Yep, bigger than Twilight even… thank god.) First it was simply announcing the Catching Fire cast on Facebook, with which was an obvious build up to the biggest announcement, the casting of Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair. No they’re bringing back one of the best campaigns used to promote the first film: Capitol Couture. The re-launched Tumblr blog currently features a new portrait of Effie Trinkett, but if you head over to Fandango you also get a sneak peak of Caesar Flickerman’s Capitol Couture portrait. You also can expect more portraits to be added to those empty chairs now feature on Instagram and Facebook. But let me save you a click. Here are the portrait of Effie and Caesar from Capitol Couture:...
Read MoreA better look at Cavill as Superman from MAN OF STEEL
DC Comics retired Superman’s red briefs with this month’s comic book relaunches. Back when the first picture of Supes sans briefs emerged I tweeted that it would be great if DC showed they had they’re stuff together, simply by having Cavill’s Superman in The Man of Steel lose the briefs too. The company has a lot to live up to if it’s ever going to compete with Marvel. Last month, a few pictures leaked onto the internet with Cavill in the costume minus the briefs. But they weren’t great. I’m not even going to link them here. But now better images of Cavill in the Superman costume have emerged… and they look awesome. It’s not a nipples on the batsuit upgrade. In fact, it’s a pretty spectacular revision of the costume while still paying homage to the original. Check ’em...
Read MoreLook: Corleone Family chart from THE GODFATHER, PART II
Ever wanted to know the breadth of the Corleone crime family. Behold: the full Senate hearing chart featuring, well, a lot of dead family members. Luca Brasi, I’m told, sleeps with the fishes. And we all know what happened to that poor, unfortunate hothead Sonny. The chart, however, is out of date. The senate should know that Fredo is not Michael’s brother, not his friend, he’s nothing to him. But that’s government bureaucracy for you, I guess. Check it out:...

Considering how much a I loved Piranha 3D last year, there’s not much that would prevent me from seeing Shark Night 3D. The horror flick/schlock fest from 2009’s The Final Destination director David R. Ellis looks like it will fullfil it’s marketing promise: Delivering “a terrifying thrill-ride featuring a red-hot young cast.” What more could you ask for in a Labor Day Weekend movie? Shark Night 3D, starring Dustin Milligan and Sara Paxton, on Sept....

Cameron Crowe knows how to make me fall in love, with characters, with music, with stories. I love his movies dearly. So you probably understand my excitement when Mr. Crowe tweeted this high-res look at We Bought a Zoo, his upcoming adaptation of Benjamin Mee’s memoir. The story about a father who spends his family’s life savings on an abandoned exotic animal farm has that idealist-against-reality quality that I love so much in his movies. Check out the image featuring Scarlett Johansson and Matt Damon (click for high-res): Okay, so there are movie stars and some zebras, but I’m happy to see anything from the production after the less-than-exciting pics he tweeted last. So the question is: are we in for Vanilla Sky/Elizabethtown or Almost Famous/Jerry Macquire? I’ll be there opening day to find out. We Bought a Zoo, directed by...

“That’s a lovely dress, Helen. Where did you get it?” Click for High Res Warner Bros. released new pictures from Clint Eastwood’s Oscar contender J. Edgar, yesterday. While EW had a first look from the movie last week, this is the first time we’ve seen Naomi Watts as Helen Gandy, Hoover’s secretary at the FBI. Wiki tells me that she played a serious behind the scenes role at the Bureau, which means she’s either the struggling wife(ish) character who tends to win a Supporting Actress Oscar or a Lady Macbeth who doesn’t. J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts and Judi Dench, opens Nov. 9. ...
