First look: Anne Hathaway in DARK KNIGHT RISES

Warner Bros. is on fire this week. We had the Man of Steel casting announcements and the first look at Cavill as Superman. Plus, set pics from The Dark Knight Rises shot in Pittsburgh hit the web. You’d think that the WB pub crew was just trying to get us to erase The Green Lantern from our memories. (Remember when that came out in June? Oh, June.) Today, we get our first look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Check it out: Click for High-Res Okay, there’s not much to see here. And just because you could do a “Who wore it better?” side-by-side with Hathaway and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be excited. (For the record, Scar-Jo wore it better.) I just assume she hasn’t been tossed off a building and licked to...

MAN OF STEEL debuts. Henry Cavill as Superman.

Posted by on Aug 4, 2011 in Big News, The Pictures | 0 comments

A few days ago, photos of the Kent homestead hit the web. Then Warner Bros. announced that Laurence Fishburne will play Perry White. But nothing compares to this. Behold! The first official shot of Henry Cavill as Superman: And here’s the full pub shot: Click for High-Res Yes, this looks like a Zack Snyder movie. Right away, you can see it. The contrast, hyper-stylized setting, Supes’ dead eyes. The good news is, despite the odd Bizarro lurch, Henry Cavill’s Superman looks bad ass. Now that’s something I’ve never said about ANY Superman adaptation. If Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan can combine that with a soul, then we have a picture on our hands. Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, and Laurence Fishburne, directed by Zack Snyder, hits theaters on June 14, 2013. ...

Francis Ford Coppola’s TWIXT trailer

Posted by on Aug 3, 2011 in Big News, Festivals, Trailers | 0 comments

I wasn’t at Comic Con, but I was following the events unfold on Twitter. One panel in particular had film writers tweeting like crazy: Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt announcement. Nobody really knew what the man who gave us The Godfather  and Apocalypse Now was talking about when hit introduced the concept for this horror film. But two things were clear: the film would go on tour and each screening would be remixed for that specific audience. (That’s enough to get most cinemaniacs in the door.) Now we know a little more. Twixt will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival and the fest released the first trailer for Coppola’s high-concept film experience. Check it out: Sure, it doesn’t look like a movie from one of the men who reinvented an industry oh so long ago. It looks almost, dare I...

Laurence Fishburne is Perry White in Snyder’s SUPERMAN

Posted by on Aug 3, 2011 in Big News, The Pictures | 0 comments

Well, here’s a bit of out-of-left-field casting for you. EW reports that Academy Award nominee and all-around awesome actor Laurence Fishburne has been cast as Perry White in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Tapping Fishburne warms this Superman fan’s heart, not because of the color-blind casting (been there done that with Michael Clarke Duncan’s Kingpin), but because my love for one Laurence Fishburne runs true and deep. (Still think he was snubbed for his performance in Akeelah and the Bee.) Sure, I like Frank Langella fine in Superman Returns, but he never really took the character anywhere. Played it safe. Fishburne might do great things here, depending on the size of the role. So now we have  Henry Cavill as Supes, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Pa and Ma...

We’re less than 5 days away from the first screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and Warner Bros. is treating fans to a perfect “previously on” clip to prep for the movie. (Though we know Potter fans are generally going to watch the J.K. Watch the clip and let me know you favorite Potter film so far below.
