Lupita Nyong’o & Gwendoline Christie Join STAR WARS VII
With Star Wars VII filming underway and the initial cast announcement already out, J.J. Abrams already hard at work bringing the first in a sequel trilogy to the big screen. But that doesn’t mean the whole ensemble is rounded out. Today we learned that two additional female roles have been cast. Who are they?
Lupita Nyong’o
The Academy Award winning actress has long been rumored as a potential cast member, but now the 12 Years a Slave star is officially on board.
Gwendoline Christie
Christie comes to Star Wars after making a huge splash on the fantasy series Game of Thrones.
Neither actress has a role attached to the announcement, so feel free to speculate. Either of them would look pretty kick-ass with a lightsaber, though the stoic, regal Christie would fit right into a new galactic senate.
The pair join the previously announce cast of returning stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, as well as newbies John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.
