AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Banner Reveals The Green Goblin, Rhino
If I haven’t made it very clear, I’m in no way a fan of The Amazing Spider-Man. But given the choice between it and Man of Steel, another superhero movie that’s two hours of exposition for a sequel, I’d choose to rewatch ASM anyday. I’m also much more interested in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 because, unlike Man of Steel, that movie made me walk out of the theater with the desire to see a sequel.
So here we are, just under six months away from ASM2‘s release and the Sony marketing machine is going to seriously start picking up. Over on the movie’s official Twitter, they release the poster above, a triptych featuring our first glimpses of Rhino‘s cinematic incarnation on the right and the Green Goblin in the center. Electro’s there of course, but we’ve already seen a lot of him.
And courtesy of AICN, here’s the new official synopsis for the picture:
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
If Marc Webb can actually pull off three villains in the lead up to a greater cinematic Spidey-verse, then we could have a winner on our hands. We’ll just have to wait until May 2 to find out.
