WB Producer Confirms Dick Grayson And Bat Drones In BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN?
Whether this is just one producer’s wishful thinking or an actual confirmation of what we’re going to see in Batman Vs. Superman, time will tell. But Warner Bros.’s Daniel Alter took set the rumor mill a buzzing after this tweet:
Can’t wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore.. Controlling drones from the batcave.
— Daniel Alter (@DAlter007) November 15, 2013
The idea that Batman and Dick Grayson had a falling out has been part of the Nightwing rumors that have circulated the web lately, so there could very well be some truth there. And if there’s truth to what he says about Robin, then there’s possible truth about Bat Drones, too.
This could mean that David Goyer isn’t just cherry picking from Frank Miller when it comes to writing the sequel to Man of Steel. He could very well be stealing borrowing from Kingdom Come, where a retired Batman protects Gotham City with robotic Bat-Knights. The estrangement between Robin and Batman is also the subject of a Kingdom Come storyline, where Robin takes on the name Red Robin and joins Superman and Wonder Woman in the Justice League as the take on Lex Luthor’s Mankind Liberation Front, with Batman’s Outsiders caught in between the two sides.
You could easily dismiss Alter’s tweet as a fanboy’s dream, but given Goyer’s total lack of originality when it comes to plotting Nolan’s Batman movies and Man of Steel, we could now know exactly what we’re getting from Batman Vs. Superman. I guess we can return to Lex Luthor casting rumors now.
