J.J. Abrams Comments (Sort Of) On Those STAR WARS VII Cumberbatch Rumors
The director of the upcoming Star Wars sequel is no stranger to playing games with the fans he’s supposedly making movie for. Of course, J.J. Abrams has cried wolf so many times people have started to refuse acknowledgement of his denials.
Maybe that’s why in the latest comment about the persistent Benedict Cumberbatch as a Star Wars sequel trilogy villain rumor is so… not a comment. Speaking with L.A. Times writer Yvonne Villarreal, Abrams answered her question about Cumberbatch’s involvement like a politician on the campaign trail:
JJ Abrams on #StarWars: “We’re working our asses off trying to get things in place w/ casting.” Benedict Cumberbatch? “I love that guy.”

Well, J.J., we all love that guy. Even more reason to admit he’s going to be a major player in your Star Wars movie.
