Want To See A Gritty POWER RANGERS Movie? MORTAL KOMBAT’s Kevin Tancharoen Is With You
Kevin Tancharoen is an internet superhero. The director made a fan-film/pitch movie call Mortal Kombat: Rebirth that turned into the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, which could lead into a new Mortal Kombat feature film.
But the director has another fan film in mind, one that I think every 90s kid would want to see, a gritty, grown-up version of Power Rangers.
In speaking with Screen Rant, Tancharoen basically said we’re living in the golden age of the fan-film. (And anyone who spends as much time on the internet as I do would likely agree.) But when asked what his next idea for a fan-film of his own would be, Tancharoen, in all seriousness, said Power Rangers:
Kevin Tancharoen: Zordon is dying and Red Ranger has to go find the Green Ranger, who’s now an MMA fighter, and the Yellow Ranger died in a car accident and they all have to reunite together. You know, just make it as dark as possible. I thought that would be really fun to do.
Screen Rant: That’s brilliant. I think you would set the Internet on fire.
KT: [Laughs] You open up with the Red Ranger doing MMA. I would want to go there and I think it would be a lot of fun.
But if Tancharoen is going to make his own Power Rangers, he has to hurry. Screen Rant pointed out that there’s already another fan-film in the works… which just happens to have 35,000 Likes on Facebook even before release.
