Oliver Stone’s JFK Gets a Re-Release For The Assassination’s 50th
I wasn’t around for the assassination of JFK, so I can’t say, “Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 50 years.” But I was there for the release of Oliver Stone’s masterpiece JFK, and wow, I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years.
The film, which earned 8 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, was a pop culture lightening rod, rekindling America’s obsession with the conspiracy surrounding JFK’s murder. Now as we approach the 50th anniversary of the assassination, Warner Bros. is planning a theatrical re-release of the film across the country.
Oliver Stone took to Twitter to share the news and the dates of the upcoming re-release:
WB is rereleasing “JFK” theatrically in NY, LA, and DC 11/6–11/14. Also, at some 250+ Cinemark, Regal, and AMC theaters on 11/17 and 11/20.

It’s certainly going to be nice to see Stone’s JFK in the theater, for me, for the first time. But I’m also likely to get the special edition Bluray that the re-release is promoting. When does that JFK Bluray come out? Let’s go to the source:
WB is also rereleasing “JFK” on BR in a new box set on 11/12. Included is something I think makes a difference—Ch 6 of “Untold History.”

It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen this movie, probably about 15 years to be honest. That was about the time The X-Files was in its prime and I discovered the film as a conspiracy obsessed youth. (I lived in grapefields. There wasn’t much to do.) So this masterpiece, beyond being a monumental work of cinematic art, holds a special place in my heart. I can’t wait for the re-release. How about you?
