There’s An AMERICAN PSYCHO Sequel TV Series In The Works
Patrick Batemen is about to join the ranks of Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates (and his mom) as cinematic psychos turned TV stars, that’s if FX has their way.
The cable network is currently planning a sequel series that will take place years after the events in Mary Harron’s adaptation of Brett Easton Ellis’s American Psycho.
So what’s the series about? According to Deadline, the show will follow a 50-something Bateman who takes on a protege to create the next-generation American Psycho. (Obviously, Bateman hasn’t heard about how hard it is to work with Millennials.)
Now, I’m not against this idea. It could work smashingly, like Hannibal. Or it could be generally forgettable, like Bates Motel. Still, the real brilliance of the movie/book was the criticism of Reagan-era douche-baggery. How will that translate to the present day? Well, I’m sure Gordon Gekko would have something to say about that.
