According to Latino Review, the Academy Award nominated actor who was once rumored to play Lex Luthor in Man of Steel will finally make his superhero movie debut in Guardians of the Galaxy.

While the rest of the cast is already settled, including Vin Diesel as your likely Groot, the only major role left open is the one that director James Gunn called “the heart of the movie”: Rocket Raccoon.

Names like Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler have been tossed around as possible contenders. But Cooper may have been James Gunn’s first and only choice.

There’s no official confirmation yet, but stay tuned. We could finally know who plays this “mangled little beast” very, very soon.
