  • Christopher McQuarrie was already set to write Mission: Impossible 5 for his Jack Reacher star Tom Cruise. Now, he’ll also take the helm as the film’s director. (AICN)
  • G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu is reported to be the top contender to director the next Star Trek movie. Hopefully he can convince Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to board the Enterprise. (Latino Review)
  • The Crow creator James O’Barr is talking the movie reboot and says it was the director’s decision to go back to the source material for this adaptation. (Total Film)
  • Looks like Steven Spielberg won’t be shooting American Assassin. The director has decided to drop out of the adaptation of Chris Kyle’s autobiography citing concerns over the budget. (Deadline)
  • Sam Rockwell is in early talks to join the anticipated reboot of the horror franchise Poltergeist.  He will possibly join Rosemarie DeWitt who was previously announced as the star of the film. (The Wrap)
  • Starz dropped the ball and now Netflix is going to pick it up. The company is looking to set up Marco Polo  from production companies The Weinstein Co. and Electus on its streaming TV service after Starz gave those producers back the previously ordered series. (THR)
