ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Is ‘Definitely’ Coming Back
As one of the strongest defenders of Arrested Development‘s fourth season (it may be my favorite), any word on the continuation of the series is good news. But something this definitive is great.
At Montreal’s Just for Laughs comedy conference last week, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos asked Mitch Hurwitz if they were going to do more Arrested Development. Hurwitz one word reply says it all: “Definitely.”
There’s long been talk of an Arrested Development movie, post-season four, and it seems like a fifth season of the show, with a movie or a limited run mini-series, is inevitable at this point. Netflix did earn 3 Emmy nominations thanks to the series, including Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Jason Bateman. The streaming video service has too much invested in the program to let it fade away, even if the show didn’t result in a major boost in subscribers.
Of course, like before, we could be in for a bit of a wait. There’s no word on any of the principal cast members having signed on for anything beyond season four. But they’ll be making a huge mistake if they don’t.
