  • Even though The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo wasn’t the global smash hit Sony was expecting, there’s once again movement on the sequel, The Girl Who Played with Fire. Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter behind Se7en, was quietly hired to rewrite Steve Zaillian’s draft and he’s almost done. Now if Sony can figure out a way to get the super busy David Fincher and Daniel Craig together, we could have a sequel shooting as soon as early 2014. (The Playlist)
  • In other David Fincher movie news, the director and Fox are trying to figure out who will star opposite Ben Affleck in the blockbuster adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. Abbie Cornish, Olivia Wilde and Julianne Hough have all tested for the part, but the studio and Fincher are also interested in the un-tested Rosamund Pike. (Variety)
  • If you plan on going to see The Wolverine despite your better judgement this weekend, be sure to stick around after the credits. The director James Mangold told ScreenRant that there’s a nice little Easter Egg with regards to next year’s Days of Future Past waiting for you. (ScreenRant)
  • Have the musical gods saved us? Jake Gyllenhaal has left Disney’s Into the Woods to star in the thriller Nightcrawler. Hopefully they’ll get someone with a musical background to take over his role as Rapunzel’s Prince. (The Wrap)
  • Reese Witherspoon is attached to star in the adaptation of Nick Hornby’s Wild. (/Film)
  • Could DC’s next Batman reboot be an adaptation of Batman Beyond? Batman-on-film.com thinks so. (BOF)
