Christian Bale Confirms He Won’t Be Batman In JUSTICE LEAGUE
Some people are going to be more disappointed in this news than I am. In the great cocktail party debate over who was the best Batman, Christian Bale doesn’t even make my top 3. (Keaton, Conroy’s voice and Kilmer… for the record.) For any Justice League movie or Batman reboot, it’s time for somebody else to don the cape.
Still, the legions of Dark Knight Trilogy fans will be somewhat disappointed in this all but expected news: Bale won’t be Batman in a Justice League movie. The actor confirmed it during an interview with EW to promote his upcoming film Out of the Furnace:
“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy… Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”
Bale went on to tell EW that he hadn’t even been involved in official talks regarding a superhero team-up film. Of course, that assumes official talks have actually taken place. Outside of a sequel to Man of Steel, WB seems to be at a loss (still?) over what to do with its superheroes in cinemas. Maybe they’re just holding out for Whedon.
