Rick Santorum: Movie Producer
You see that picture above? That’s one of the happiest moments of my adult life. No, not making a little girl cry, but rather watching Sen. Rick Santorum concede. In 2006, I was a resident of Pennsylvania and placed one very important vote, for Bob Casey, Jr. That meant the junior senator from Pennsylvania and incumbent loon Rick Santorum lost his seat in the U.S. Senate. Oh, happy day.
When Santorum became a front-runner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, I thought I was living in bizzaro world. How could he, of all people, make a comeback? Google problem aside, this was a man who was so crazy that Pennsylvanians ousted him in favor of Casey by nearly 20 points. That’s not just a thumping. That’s a blow-out.
Santorum lost the nomination for president. And I thought we’d never have to hear from him again. Well, movie lovers, he’s now treading on our turf.
Santorum was just hired as the CEO of EchoLight Studios in Dallas, Texas, which means he’ll be executive producing pictures for the “faith-and-family movie market.” I gotta say, I’m probably going to see the first movie for which he receives an executive producer credit because I hate myself out of morbid curiosity. I probably won’t see another one… unless it’s written and directed by Mel Gibson. Santorum and Gibson making a movie together is a freighter load of crazy even I can’t miss.
