  • Liam Neeson has a particular set of skills… one of which is turning a minor action thriller into a full-blown franchise. So it’s no surprise that Neeson is getting paid big bucks—$20 million—to reprise his role as Bryan Mills in Taken 3. (Deadline)
  • The long shelved horror flick All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is finally, finally getting a release. The movie about a group of teenagers who are picked off one-by-one during a ranch weekend stars Amber Heard and has been kicking and screaming for a release after all the festival goers loved the movie back in 2006. The film makes it to VOD on September 6 with a theatrical release on October 11. (AICN)
  • Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day  has it’s Alexander. Ed Oxenbould will star as the title character, joining the previously announced Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner. (The Wrap)
  • Sorry, Independence Day fans. Will Smith is too busy making sure his kids have a career (and would cost too much money), so he won’t be in the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster. (ScreenRant)
  • The iconic sci-fi author Richard Matheson, best known for writing I Am Legend, has died. (THR)
  • Just ahead of The Lone Ranger‘s release, uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer is having his name immortalized on the streets of Hollywood. Bruckheimer, who is one of the only producers with a household name, will receive a star on the Walk of Fame in honor of his contributions to cinema. (And his publicity department because the Walk of Fame is pay-to-lay.)  (Variety)
