Mary Jane Watson Cut from AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, Shailene Woodley Out – Big 6 Morning Report
- Shailene Woodley would have been an fantastic Mary Jane Watson. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Mary Jane was cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in order to streamline the story, which honestly isn’t something you hear everyday with any superhero movie. (“Pack it all in, boys,” is more common.) Unfortunately that means Woodley is out and the role will likely be recast for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is already on the schedule for June 2016. (THR)
- Fifty Shades of Grey now has a director. Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor-Johnson has been tapped to helm the mommie porn adaptation. (Badass Digest)
- Sometimes I can’t imagine life without Netflix. But then they go and do something like this: The streaming TV company has renewed one of the worst series you’ll ever see, Hemlock Grove, for a second season. (Deadline)
- Miss Saigon is returning to the West End Stage next May. Hopefully this is an indication that Cameron Mackintosh is priming the public for a film adaptation of this very cinematic stage show. (Variety)
- Tim Burton’s Margaret Keane biopic, Big Eyes, starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz has a new cast member on board: Jason Schwartzman. (The Wrap)
- Microsoft has throw in the towel. The tech giant plans to ease DRM restrictions and connectivity requirements for the Xbox One. The move comes after gamer protests and Playstation 4’s decision to launch without the same restrictions. (THR)
