We’re Going to Need a New Batman

If there’s one piece of great news to come out of the Man of Steel opening this week, it’s that we won’t have to worry about Christopher Nolan anymore. The man who directed the most depressing superhero movie ever made will likely be made something like executive producer, just to keep his name out there.  That also means the end of the Nolan Batman universe.

David Goyer told Hey You Guys two very important things about the new DC Cinematic Universe which WB hopes will launch out of Man of Steel:

  1. Bruce Wayne does exist in the MOS‘s world (as anyone who saw the Wayne Enterprises logo on the space satellite in the movie can attest)
  2. It’s a different Bruce Wayne (and Batman, for that matter) than the one in The Dark Knight trilogy because those movies exist in their own Bizzaro World Nolan Universe.

A Nolan-free DC Universe may be exactly what WB needs in order to make movies as fun and entertaining as Marvel’s.

While I’m not in love with Man of Steel, I like it enough to want to see where this goes. How about you? What do you want from a Nolan-free DCCU?
