First Look: Tom Hanks in EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE
It’s been nearly 10 years since 9/11, and in the decade since, only one movie (United 93) successfully dramatized the day on film. Well, Stephen Daldry (The Hours) might change that with his Oscar-baity 9/11 drama Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer.
Warner Bros. released the first still of the film today, which stars Tom Hanks (pictured), as well as Sandra Bullock. Here’s the official synopsis via IMDB:
A nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father when he was killed in the September 11 attacks.
Even today, the topic of 9/11 is still hard to handle, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Daldry can pull this one off.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, directed by Stephen Daldry and starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, opens in limited release on Dec. 25. The film goes wide on Jan. 20, 2012.
