I’ll give Tyler Perry this: His trailers make me want to see his movies. I mean I really, really want them to be good. Sure, by time his movies are released, the Tomatometer is usually below 50 and I can’t justify seeing them. (I did watch The Family that Preys Together on an airplane, but I refused to pay for the earbuds.) Could For Colored Girls be different?

Behold: Yahoo! Movies has the trailer for Perry’s adaptation of Ntozake Shange‘s play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.  (You should watch the trailer if for no other reason than Loretta Divine’s sassy moment at around 0:40.)

Do I have a rational reason to believe that For Colored Girls will be better than anything Perry has done in the past? Well, Lionsgate recently moved the release date from 2011 to Nov. 5, possibly for an Oscar run. So maybe this time.
