Lee Daniels in talks for SELMA
Precious helmer Lee Daniels is hot right now. Not only has his name been mentioned as a potential director for the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Miss Saigon, but now he may take on the 1965 Civil Rights marches that originated in Selma, Alabama. (Presumably the Bloody Sunday march.) Variety reports that Daniels is in advanced talks to direct the film for the Oscar-winning producer of Slumdog Millionaire, Christian Colson. With Precious looking to ride a Slumdog-style wave to Oscar, the Colson-Lee team could be a nice fit.
