TFC Morning Report – Wednesday, March 11, 2009 – Disney moves up Princess and the Frog
Top Story: Disney has moved up the release of the first traditionally animated musical of the Pixar era. Instead of a Christmas Day opening, The Princess and the Frog will go wide on Dec. 11 after a NY-LA release on Nov. 25. The new date avoids head to head competition with the Alvin and the Chimpmunks… sigh… “squeakuel.” (Variety)
In Other News: Guillermo Del Toro protegé Juan Antonio Bayon (The Orphanage) is on the shortlist to direct Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight saga. (HR)
Jeff Goldblum will join Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman in the comedy The Baster, which follow a man who switches an anonymous sperm donation with his own in order to impregnate his female best friend. (HR)
Danny Devito will direct a film based on the life of consumer electronics king Eddie Anter. (Variety)
