Oliver Stone’s W. Trailer hits the Internets
“Who do you think you are? A Kennedy?”
So the story goes like this. Stanley Kubrick is planning to turn Peter George’s nuclear war thriller Red Alert into a movie. He sets out to make a serious drama, but early in the writing process, he finds the scenario full of frightening absurdities. So the famed director switches gears. He hires satirist Terry Southern as his co-writer and out pops Dr. Strangelove, a black comedy that seems relevant just any time you watch it.
If the Cold War can be funny, then anything can. After the last seven and a half years, laughing at the ass-backwardness of the Bush presidency may be the only thing we can do. Isn’t that right, turd blossom?
