Tilda Swinton didn’t win best actress at Cannes for what’s been called her best performance yet in We Need to Talk About Kevin. This Haneke-esque drama from director Lynn Ramsay won’t likely lead to a Swinton Oscar, either, at least not without A LOT of work from US distributor Oscilloscope. Still, this story of a mother recounting her son’s life after he massacre’s his school looks riveting… to say the least.

We Need to Talk About Kevin, directed by Lynn Ramsay and starring Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller, opens in the UK in October. The film’s US release is set for the winter.
