It came down to Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson. But in the end the Games of Thrones actress, mother of dragons and queen of geeks Clarke was chosen to play Sarah Connor in the franchise relaunch and fifth installment of the Terminator series, Terminator: Genisis.

Skydance, Annapurna and Paramount made it official on Friday, with Deadline reporting the breakout star of HBO’s biggest series would take over the iconic role. She’ll be the third actress to officially play Sarah Connor, following Linda Hamilton, who originated the role, and Lena Headey, who played Connor in the short-lived TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. 

Of course, the production companies are looking for the sixth actor to play John Connor, as well. Right now, Deadline says that Jason Clarke of Zero Dark Thirty is in negotiations for the role that will have John and Sarah meet up in the future.
