ARROW And THE FLASH Won’t Tie Into The DC Cinematic Universe
Here’s something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. Despite rampant speculation, it looks like the CW’s Arrow and The Flash won’t crossover into the new DC Cinematic Universe, after all.
Producer Greg Berlanti dropped the news in an interview with Fandango, saying:
We haven’t had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year [for the TV show] and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us. And every now and then, they’ll say, ‘You can’t have that guy.’ They don’t say why, and we figure out why later on.
But don’t look at this as bad news, fangirls and boys. When it comes down to it, Arrow and The Flash are better off without Zack Snyder and David Goyer. Man of Steel is a good movie. It’s not entertaining, but it’s watchable. Arrow has really been the crown jewel of DC’s live action adaptions, more so than even those depressing Nolan Batman movies. And the show is evolving weekly. It’s getting closer and closer to a mystical, sci-fi injected superhero show, which will likely culminate with the introduction of the fastest man alive’s own show next season.
The sky really is the limit with the Arrow-verse and having him or Barry Allen play second fiddle to Batman and Superman just doesn’t do the show and its creative team justice. We should thank our lucky stars that we’re not going to have Snyder and Goyer wreck it all for us.
