10 Movies That Will Make 2015 The Best Blockbuster Year Ever
Sure, there’s not an original movie in the bunch, but with franchises like these, who needs something shiny and new. 1. Avengers: Age of Ultron The sequel to the biggest superhero movie ever adapts takes its title from 10-issue limited series, which features an even bigger, badder threat to Earth than the Chitauri. Release Date: May 1, 2015 2. Untitled Superman/Batman Movie Finally, after all these years Batman and Superman will be on the big screen together in a movie that doesn’t involve Legos. Release Date: July 17, 2015 Image Source: ScreenRant 3. Star Wars: Episode VII The man who turned Star Trek into Star Wars finally gets to take on the franchise he always wanted to. At the very least J.J. Abrams is better than George Lucas, so they should probably call this one A New Hope. Release...

In my opinion, Catching Fire is easily the best book in The Hunger Games series. The characters, from different generations and each a survivor of a previous Hunger Games competition, come into the story with richer, darker backgrounds. And the location is so much better than just playing in the woods. Of course, there’s also Finnick Odair in this one, which automatically makes it better than any of the other books. So as the Comic Con previews continue, today we have 10 new character posters for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. And again, the filmmakers nail it. Check ’em out. And just so you’re not wasting your time, I’ll tell you that Finnick is in the top row, second from the left. Sources: Yahoo, MSN, Empire, MTV, Moviefone, LA...
Read MoreHunger Games: Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman in Capitol Couture
The folks over at Lionsgate really know how to use social media in promoting their biggest franchise property: The Hunger Games. (Yep, bigger than Twilight even… thank god.) First it was simply announcing the Catching Fire cast on Facebook, with which was an obvious build up to the biggest announcement, the casting of Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair. No they’re bringing back one of the best campaigns used to promote the first film: Capitol Couture. The re-launched Tumblr blog currently features a new portrait of Effie Trinkett, but if you head over to Fandango you also get a sneak peak of Caesar Flickerman’s Capitol Couture portrait. You also can expect more portraits to be added to those empty chairs now feature on Instagram and Facebook. But let me save you a click. Here are the portrait of Effie and Caesar from Capitol Couture:...
Read MoreTHE HUNGER GAMES is Lions Gate’s most expensive production… ever
Lions Gate hasn’t had a great few weeks. Warrior opened to $5.2 million last weekend, despite heavy promotion and a ton of preview screenings. Worse though was the $90 million remake of Conan the Barbarian, which barely cracked the $20 million mark at the domestic box office—and it’s been in theaters since Aug. 19. It’s no surprise that Lions Gate’s future may ride on the success of The Hunger Games franchise. And the studio, which has its cash cows like Tyler Perry comedies and the Saw franchise, is going big with the production. The first adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s trilogy will reported cost $100 million ($80 million with tax credits)… the most expensive in the studio’s history. Lions Gate (and its investors) is hoping for Twilight-like success. Rival studio Summit Entertainment has built their company around the blockbuster franchise. But you have to remember,...

I’m sure there have been others, but this is the first time I’ve seen a Hunger Games t-shirt pop up on one of the daily tee websites. And being a devoted member of Team Gale, I just had to get Nowhere Bad’s “Everdeen Hunting Co-Operative” shirt from designer Brandon Wiebe. You can nab one, too, but only for the next few days. Tees cost $12. Prints are $10. Or get both for $20. I got the tee. Now I don’t have to worry about what I’ll wear to The Hunger Games opening on March 23,...

Why Was Steven Soderbergh on the Set of ‘The Hunger Games’? Steven Soderbergh Tells Us the Whole Story Back in April, [director] Gary [Ross] — who is a close friend of mine I’ve exchanged creative favors with non-stop over the last 15 years — when he got the boards for the shoot in April called me and said, “Hey, first week of August, I got these two days of second unit. Is there any way you can come down and help me out? Because I’d rather have you do it than hire somebody who I don’t know.” I said, “Actually, that works out.” We’ll just be finishing ‘Contagion’ and prepping ‘Magic Mike’ and, yeah, it could be fun.
