Ra’s Al Ghul’s OTHER Daughter Is Joining ARROW

Posted by on Nov 20, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

It looks like all that Ra’s al Ghul namedropping on Arrow as of late is leading somewhere. TV Guide has confirmed that the DC villain’s daughter will appear on the show and that Katrina Law (Spartacus) will play her. But she’s not the daughter you’d think she’d be. Nope, Talia al Guhl won’t be showing up on Arrow anytime soon, but her half-sister, Nyssa, is set to appear in the 13th episode of this second season. Nyssa will be a major player in the League of Assassins who comes to Starling City in the continuing pursuit of the Black Canary. The question of course remains, just how closely will Nyssa and Ra’s both be to the mythology, including the Lazarus Pit. Arrow has built it’s series around a Nolan-esque realism (only with fun). But maybe we’re starting to escalate into the world...

CW’s THE FLASH Will Get A Standalone Pilot

Posted by on Nov 19, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

Well it looks like we won’t get to see the red jumpsuit on Arrow after all, at least not this season. Rather than including a backdoor pilot for The Flash series within Arrow‘s regular season, the network has decided to give The Flash its own standalone pilot. For months now, we’ve been told that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) would appear in three episodes of the series Arrow, episodes 8, 9 and 20, with the last episode being the one where we would see the fastest man alive makes his debut. But after seeing initial cuts of episodes 8 and 9, CW execs decided that the Scarlet Speedster deserved a pilot of his own. According to Deadline, the creative team of Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns and David Nutter will remain the same. But this does give the producers a chance to create a different tone for The Flash...

AMC Orders A PREACHER Pilot

Posted by on Nov 18, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

I’ll be honest here. I’ve never taken the time to read Garth Ennis’s Preacher. I know I should. Everyone I know tells me so. But I haven’t really had a deadline when it comes to reading the controversial comic. Now, I guess I do. AMC, in an attempt to fill a growing void in its schedule now that Breaking Bad is over and Mad Men is ending, has decided to take an adaptation of Preacher to pilot. Preacher has long been the subject of a possible adaptation, with HBO coming the closest to making it happen. Now it looks like AMC, broadcast cable’s response to HBO, will be the network to finally bring Preacher  to life. Everything I know about Preacher already tells me that AMC, if they take an loyal adaptation to series, is in for a thumbing from religious fanatics. This is a book that...

Breaking In The Middle: Watch This NEWHART-Inspired Alternate Ending To BREAKING BAD

Posted by on Nov 18, 2013 in The Tube, The Web | 0 comments

Bryan Cranston‘s Malcolm in the Middle co-star Jane Kaczmarek visited the set of Breaking Bad in January fueling rumors that she would appear in the final episodes of the AMC series. That certainly didn’t happen, but now we may know why she was there. An alternate ending for the show appeared on the web yesterday, one that finally unites the worlds of Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle. It features Hal waking up from a nightmare in bed next to Lois, a nightmare where he was a meth-dealing chemistry wizard. Of course, this is a riff on the classic Newhart series finale, where Bob Newhart wakes up in bed next to his The Bob Newhart Show wife, Suzanne Pleshette. Check it...

THE KILLING Isn’t Dead. Netflix Picks Up Season 4.

Posted by on Nov 17, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

Netflix is constantly at an advantage when it comes to their series pick-ups. It knew based on user data that House of Cards would be a sure-thing, thanks to the success of original UK series on its service. Now, Netflix is going all in for The Killing. AMC canceled the show for a second time in September. But Netflix, which recently added Season 3 to its streaming service, has decided to bring the series back to life… again. The streaming entertainment company has committed to a six episode final season of The Killing, which ensure that if you want to know how The Killing’s Season 3 cliffhanger ends, you have to find out on Netflix. Netflix was also responsible for bringing the series back to life the first time, thanks to a co-financing deal with AMC and Fox. But now the series is...

John Oliver Heads To HBO For His Own Comedy Talk Show

Posted by on Nov 15, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

When John Oliver was hosting The Daily Show over the summer, the show was funny again. I like John Stewart fine, but you can tell his contempt has overtaken his comedy. That The Daily Show didn’t win the Emmy for Variety Show this year is telling. (Colbert is just more entertaining.) So everyone suspected that Oliver would take over The Daily Show at some point. Until yesterday that is. According to Deadline, Oliver is heading to HBO to host his own news comedy talk show, which will have all the hallmarks of a good Daily Show episode: satire, interviews and commentary. The show is expected to air on Sunday nights in 2014. So now, like Comedy Central, HBO has the angry comedian (Bill Maher) and the goofy comedian (John Oliver) both of whom will take on the week’s news and current events. But unlike Comedy Central,...
