PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 Moved to 2016
Something had to give. Disney has decided to pull Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales from the crowded 2015 release schedule, instead opting for a yet-to-be-revealed 2016 release date for the fifth picture in the franchise. The move follows Disney’s announcement that Ant-Man would move to a Summer 2015 release, up from the planned Nov. 6, 2015 release date. This is for the best, really. No one is really clamoring for a Pirates 5, especially after the last movie, which somehow managed to make a billion dollars worldwide thanks to overseas grosses, turned out to be a major creative misfire. Disney and the directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg could certainly use the extra time to re-establish the franchise to its former glory. And for Disney, there’s really no financial reason to keep the movie in 2015, either. With The Avengers: Age...

It looks like Jurassic Park 4 will hit theaters in 2015 after all, and this time, it’s out to take over the world. Universal has officially moved the Steven Spielberg-produced, Colin Trevorrow-directed sequel/reboot to June 12, 2015. That puts in the middle of the crowded summer of 2015. In addition, the movie’s official title is Jurassic World, which could indicate that we’re living in some dino-infested dystopia thanks to Hammond’s little park experiment. (World War D?) We don’t have any plot details yet, so I’m just speculating. But that would make for a pretty awesome movie, wouldn’t it? Hopefully we’ll get a better idea of who Colin Trevorrow will actually cast in the move soon. Because if we’re not spreading enough rumors about superhero blockbusters and Star Wars... Disney is shifting its 2015 release calendar, moving Ant-Man away from direct competition with the next Bond movie and into summer tent pole territory. The Marvel movie directed by Edgar Wright will now kick off Phase 3 just three short months after Avengers: The Age of Ultron on July 31, 2015. This move certainly opens up a few possibilities. One is that Marvel just wants to dick with DC Comics, which will open Batman Vs. Superman two weeks prior to Ant-Man, so they can say that even Ant-Man a very minor superhero is bigger than their best heroes. I can only imagine what the Marvel offices would be if Ant-Man halted the Man of Steel sequel’s momentum. Of course, another possibility is that Star Wars VII just moved one step closer to an official holiday release. While no date is yet set for the first in the...
Read MoreDoes STAR WARS VII Finally Have A Title? Probably Not
We’re all clamoring for something, anything in terms of legitimate news when it comes to J.J. Abrams’s Star Wars: Episode VII. Casting rumors. Benedict Cumberbatch. Eventually something has to be true right? Well, until we get official confirmation on anything, lets just stick to rumors and speculation, shall we? The latest bit of un-news when it comes to Star Wars VII is that the first in the sequel trilogy could be subtitled A New Dawn. That comes from the Talkbacker.com, so take it for what it is. I’d be surprised if that was the final title. It doesn’t even sound like a real fake title, let alone an official one. It’s something you might throw around the set until the script is officially done. Even the expanded universe books are more creative then that. But hey, who knows. Because the longer we have...

Brad Pitt may have had the last laugh when it comes to World War Z, with the projected flop taking in more than $500 million at the global box office and becoming Brad Pitt’s biggest movie ever. But that’s not stopping the actor/producer from rolling the dice once again with Paramount. At the Toronto International Film Festival, Variety caught up with Pitt, who is promoting 12 Years a Slave, and asked him about plans for sequels to his zombie epic. There Pitt confirmed that sequels are in motion, saying: “We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work… We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.” Now that pull quote doesn’t do the interview justice, so I embedded Variety’s video below. Because about...

Katee Sackoff has expressed interest in playing comic book characters, including Typhoid Mary, Harley Quinn and Ms. Marvel. But all of that was just a wishing and hoping. However, in the Schmoe Knows Movies podcast, Stackhoff revealed that her dream may become a reality, as she’s talking with Marvel about her future: “There’s been some stuff going on… there’s been a lot of checking of availability. I don’t quite know exactly… There’s been a lot of questions about the first quarter of next year.” Who knows who Sackhoff will play, but we do know that there’s interest in a Ms. Marvel One Shot over at Marvel Studios. Could we be seeing Sackoff as Ms. Marvel on the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Blu-ray release next year? Let’s hope so. It’d be a good stepping stone into Phase 3. And...
