Is Marvel Developing An Agent Carter TV Series?
Are Marvel One Shots just pilots for TV series? If the latest internet rumors prove true, then the answer may be “yes.” According to Deadline, Marvel is quietly developing a series based on Agent Peggy Carter, who you may recall as Steve Rogers’ handler in Captain America. The news comes just as Agent Carter is about to receive the Marvel One Shot treatment on the Iron Man 3 Bluray release. That short film follows Carter’s work as a fledgling secret agent after Captain America disappears into thick ice. Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time a One Shot indirectly influenced the production of a series. Last year’s Item 47, featuring S.H.I.E.L.D., was followed up by the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now this year’s One Shot, Agent Carter, may be followed with a show of its own. Plus, given Marvel’s lack of female leads, a Carter series...
Read MoreTEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Sewer Lair Revealed!
The Ninja Turtles live in the greatest pizza city on the planet and what do they eat? Pizza Hut. That’s just one of the many things we’ve learned from the sewer lair set pictures from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that leaked online yesterday. The good folks over at AICN posted the pics which reveal what looks like a combination of a frat house and the Batcave. And depending on how it’s shot, this looks like it could be a much more colorful set than the sewer we saw in the 1990 film. That flair for color might be telling us that Liebesman and company are more inspired by the 80s cartoon than they are the comics. But hey, ever since they cast William Fichtner as the Shredder I’ve been willing to let them do about anything they want, short of...
Read MoreSaoirse Ronan Up For STAR WARS VII, Benedict Cumberbatch Denials Debunked
When we found out that Saoirse Ronan turned down the role of Scarlett Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, we had to wonder: What could be more important a film that big? Well, if Latino Review is correct, we may have the answer. According to the site, Saoirse Ronan went in to read for an unnamed part in Star Wars VII, which for my money would be a HUGE addition to the cast. Girl. Can. Act. And based on her performance in Hanna, she would pretty much make the most badass female Jedi/Sith/whatever the series has ever seen. (A low bar, I know, but still.) But that’s not all folks… You know those official denials of Benedict Cumberbatch‘s involvement in the Star Wars VII? They could be outright bullshit. Given J.J. Abrams history with this kind of crap, it would make sense that everyone would...
Read MoreJoss Whedon Helped Pen THOR: THE DARK WORLD Scenes, Says The Film’s Director
There’s a game I used to play when watching (and rewatching) episodes of Buffy, Angel and any Whedon series really. The game basically involves not reading the show’s opening credits and just listening to the dialog to see if Joss Whedon scripted the episode. The way he writes is that distinct. By now, I’ve seen enough of his shows more than once to know which ones he wrote, so the game isn’t as fun as it used to be. Thankfully, I’ll be able to try my hand at it with Thor: The Dark World. In an interview with SFX Magazine (courtesy of CBM), the film’s director Alan Taylor said Whedon rescued the Thor sequel a few times by helping rewrite scenes: “Joss came in to save our lives a couple of times. We had a major scene that was not working on the page...

It’s a common lament these days that Pixar just isn’t living up to the creative standards of its hayday (which ended with Up in 2009). Brave, Monsters University, Cars 2, Planes. Only Toy Story 3 in 2010 has really stood out, and that movie, while emotionally masterful, blatantly ripped off the story from Brave Little Toaster. So it’s not a bad thing to hear that 2014 will be the first year without a Pixar movie in nearly a decade. The news comes after Pixar fired director Bob Peterson from the upcoming feature The Good Dinosaur, which presumably set the picture back. In a reshuffling of release dates, The Good Dinosaur will move from Summer 2014 to November 2015, taking Finding Dory‘s release date which moved to Summer 2016. Now The Good Dinosaur will be released the same year as Pete Docter’s next film Inside Out, which takes place entirely in the...
Read MorePaul Greengrass Leaves THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7
Just ahead of the release of his latest docu-actioner Captain Phillips, Paul Greengrass has left the ever-developing The Trial of The Chicago 7. Greengrass replaced Steven Spielberg who replaced Ben Stiller who replaced Spielberg (yeah, it’s been going around for a while) as the helmer of the Aaron Sorkin-scripted feature, which has been trying to get off the ground since 2007. At this rate, if Spielberg ever does come back on board, this project is going to have a development story of epic proportions, enough to rival Spielberg’s long-gestating Lincoln. Chicago 7 tells the story of seven political activists who were charged with conspiring to incite violence at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Greengrass apparently left over budget concerns, where he wanted $40 million and the studio only wanted $20-30 million. Considering this is a Sorkin script, someone will likely fill the...
