Will Chewbacca Return For STAR WARS VII?

Posted by on Sep 24, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

We already know that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are set to return for Star Wars: Episode VII. But what about the fourth member of that fateful team? Well, if you’re to believe a UK casting call, chances are Chewbacca is coming back, too. Over at Den of Geek, they’ve posted what appears to be a request by Bad Robot, Disney and Lucas Film for a very large man for an “Untitled Studio Feature.” So what are they looking for? “Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus”. Sounds like a Wookie to me. And given that we know the original characters will play some role in Episode VII, the logical conclusion is that...

Wow! Colin Farrell and Paula Patton Officially Offered Leads In WARCRAFT

Posted by on Sep 24, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

It looks like Duncan Jones adaptation of the highest-grossing video game in history has its leads. Deadline is reporting that Colin Farrell and Paula Patton have been offered the top roles in the upcoming film Warcraft. While you can probably take Patton to the bank here, Deadline does not that Colin Farrell is “50/50” as to whether he’ll actually join the production. But Farrell and Patton aren’t the only actors who Jones has in mind for the film. Paul Dano, Travis Fimmel, Anson Mount and Anton Yelchin are on the shortlist for other roles in the movie. Even if Farrell turns down the role (something that would make no sense considering he said, “Yes,” to Total Recall), the fact Jones is at the helm gives me hope for a movie that I had absolutely no interest in seeing, especially when Sam Raimi was...

The Non-Tenders: Nicole Kidman’s GRACE OF MONACO Pushed To 2014

Posted by on Sep 24, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

Well, it looks like one princess won’t be making it to the Oscar ball this year. The Weinstein Company has decided to move the Princess Grace biopic starring Nicole Kidman out of 2013 Oscar contention and into a less competitive date in 2014. This means that Kidman’s very slight chances at getting an Oscar nod for the role have been pushed off for a year. But audiences won’t have to wait that long for the film to hit theaters. According to THR, the film is still planned for release in the spring of 2014. Grace of Monaco is directed by La Vie En Rose helmer Olivier Dahan and tells the story of Grace Kelly’s controversial move from Hollywood royalty to actual royalty when she meets Monaco’s Prince Rainier III. Fortunately for princess fans, at least one biopic is still slated for release this Oscar season: Diana starring...

J.J. Abrams Comments (Sort Of) On Those STAR WARS VII Cumberbatch Rumors

Posted by on Sep 24, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

The director of the upcoming Star Wars sequel is no stranger to playing games with the fans he’s supposedly making movie for. Of course, J.J. Abrams has cried wolf so many times people have started to refuse acknowledgement of his denials. Maybe that’s why in the latest comment about the persistent Benedict Cumberbatch as a Star Wars sequel trilogy villain rumor is so… not  a comment. Speaking with L.A. Times writer Yvonne Villarreal, Abrams answered her question about Cumberbatch’s involvement like a politician on the campaign trail: JJ Abrams on #StarWars: “We’re working our asses off trying to get things in place w/ casting.” Benedict Cumberbatch? “I love that guy.” — Yvonne Villarreal (@villarrealy) September 20, 2013 Well, J.J., we all love that guy. Even more reason to admit he’s going to be a major player in your Star...

THE DESCENT’s Neil Marshall Nabs TROLL HUNTER Remake Gig

Posted by on Sep 23, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

There was very little reason to get excited about the US remake of the Norwegian horror comedy Troll Hunter until a few days ago. I mean, Chris Columbus, the man behind Home Alone and Harry Potter, was on board as producer, so it looked like this fantastic foreign genre feature was about to get soft. Well, that may not be the case after all. Director Neil Marshall, who directed the blood-soaked horror masterpiece The Descent and one of the best episodes of Game of Thrones, has come on board to helm the Hollywood version. Hopefully this means that despite the film being about student investigating a series of “bear killings,” we won’t be subject to the tired found footage style the original was (my only real complaint about that film). Marshall’s a better director than that. In fact, he’s so good, I may actually go...

Oliver Stone’s JFK Gets a Re-Release For The Assassination’s 50th

Posted by on Sep 23, 2013 in The Pictures | 0 comments

I wasn’t around for the assassination of JFK, so I can’t say, “Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 50 years.” But I was there for the release of Oliver Stone’s masterpiece JFK, and wow, I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years.  The film, which earned 8 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, was a pop culture lightening rod, rekindling America’s obsession with the conspiracy surrounding JFK’s murder. Now as we approach the 50th anniversary of the assassination, Warner Bros. is planning a theatrical re-release of the film across the country. Oliver Stone took to Twitter to share the news and the dates of the upcoming re-release: WB is rereleasing “JFK” theatrically in NY, LA, and DC 11/6–11/14. Also, at some 250+ Cinemark, Regal, and AMC theaters on 11/17 and 11/20. — Oliver Stone (@TheOliverStone) September 19, 2013 It’s certainly going...
