ANT-MAN Casting Shortlist Includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Paul Rudd
Two big stars are up for the role of one little superhero. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd have been shortlisted for the lead in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. The Marvel adaptation will follow The Avengers: Age of Ultron in theaters in 2015, kicking off Marvel’s Phase 3. And it will be an important step because we know that a lot of the current Avengers won’t be around forever. Ant-Man, along with potentials like Dr. Strange and The Black Panther, will have to introduce new blood into what will already be an aging franchise by 2015. But back to Ant-Man casting. Normally I’d be behind JGL 100 percent, but something tells me that Rudd is the man for the job here. I’d love to see what he can do with a superhero role. The comedy star seems more like a Marvel guy than JGL anyway, and not...

I don’t like kids, but dammit if I wasn’t taken by Ty Simpkins as Tony Stark’s smart-ass sidekick in Iron Man 3. I figure if I ever have a kid, I’d want one as sharp and snarky as that one. So I can’t say I’m upset with the news that little Mr. Simpkins is the first official cast member of Jurassic World. Simpkins has a history with the film’s producer Steven Spielberg, starring in Spielberg’s underrated 2005 sci-fi thriller War of the Worlds. He was just a little tike back then. And now this kid who was raised around aliens and Iron Man gets to play with dinosaurs. Me? I had to claw my way out of Mordor. Birth lottery, I guess. In addition to Simpkins, Deadline is reporting that The New Girl‘s Jake Johnson, who starred in JW director Colin Trevorrow‘s Safety Not...
Read MoreIs This The Release Date For STAR WARS 7?
So as we wait for any official announcements regarding Star Wars: Episode VII, it’s rumor time again. Over at Screen Rant, they’re reporting a rumor that appeared on Jedi News saying that the official release date for Star Wars 7 will be Nov. 11, 2015. That would put the release the week after Bond 24 and the week before the final Hunger Games movie, as well as two weeks ahead of Disney/Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. Sure it’s a wide open release date and Disney just vacated that time frame by moving Ant-Man to August 2015, but it’s in a highly competitive window. And releasing a blockbuster in mid-November? The only good major release date in November, the Friday before Thanksgiving, is already taken by Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, Part II. Of course, there’s little room for Star Wars anywhere else in the holiday season now that Warcraft took the big...
Read MoreLee Daniels Is Making A Gay Action Hero Movie With MAGIC MIKE’s Alex Pettyfer
Lee Daniels can pretty much do what he wants these days now that his The Butler has grossed over $100 million and is heading into the Oscar race with the wind at its back. But will notoriously timid studio execs get behind his latest idea, a gay action hero movie? Of course, we’re not supposed to know they’re gay, but Daniels, in an interview with Out magazine pretty much revealed everything about the movie that would have been surprising: According to Daniels, think of it as a gay “Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but the two good-looking guys as the action heroes.” The twist? “We don’t find out they’re gay until the end of the movie,” he explains. But it’s all about the journey, not the destination, folks. And if the journey is with Alex Pettyfer, who played a slave-driver in The...
Read MoreNew MONUMENTS MEN Trailer Starring George Clooney, Matt Damon and Bill Murray
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. Just what we need. Another WWII movie. Well, the subgenre that just won’t die is this time in the hands of George Clooney, who is getting better as a director with every film he releases. I wouldn’t expect The Dirty Dozen here. But with an all-star comedy cast including John Goodman, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban and Jean Dujardin, I’m sure the melodramatics of the plot (and this trailer) won’t be as heavy as it looks. At least we can hope...
Read MoreOliver Stone Sought After For MLK Biopic With Jamie Foxx As Possible Star
With a script approved by the King family and Steve Spielberg on board to produce, how could Dreamworks/Warner Bros. upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic get any better? Adding Oliver Stone and Jamie Foxx certainly helps. Stone, of course, loves the 60s and 70s. Platoon, JFK, Nixon, Born of the Fourth of July. He’s a man who made his career off of telling stories from America’s most tumultuous era. So it isn’t a stretch at all that Stone would be the choice filmmaker to come on board. Potentially coming along with him may be his Any Given Sunday star Jamie Foxx, who THR reports is in talks for the role of the civil rights leader. THR does caution that these both are just meeting with producers and that nothing is signed yet. But if you’re looking for a way to have your MLK movie...
