Bryan Singer Will Direct X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, Smacks Down Internet Rumors
Bryan Singer‘s tweet announcing X-Men: Apocalypse (or whatever it may be called) left some people wondering if the director would return for the 2016 franchise entry. Or maybe I should say hoping he wouldn’t. Either way, Vulture confirmed yesterday that Singer would in fact turn his attention to Apocalypse after finishing X-Men: Days of Future Past. But Singer as the once and future helmer wasn’t the big news that hit the net since the announcement of what is bound to be an epic sequel. A rumor recently surfaced indicating (SPOILER ALERT) that Apocalypse would be an alien and appear in the post credit stinger at the end of Day of Future Past, invading the body of Michael Fassbender‘s Magneto. The change, both to Apocalypse’s origin and to his entry into the X-Men universe, would be a significant departure from the mythology, and indicate...
Read MoreDisney Gets Full Rights To Indiana Jones
Whether this is good news or bad news, time will tell, but in a deal with Paramount Pictures, Disney has acquired the full rights to the Indiana Jones character. Paramount will retain the rights to the first four pictures and likely receive some sort of financial reward for pictures in the future, but the deal is done. Indy is now with Disney. Does this give new credence to the rumor that Harrison Ford demanded an Indy 5 in order to appear in Star Wars 7? Possibly. We already know that Ford is more interested in Indy than he is Han Solo. He’s made his intentions to reprise the role one more time well known. Now that the character lives at Disney instead of Paramount, that could happen sooner rather than later. Will Spielberg be back, too? How about Shia? Can...
Read MoreLA Film Critics Pick HER And GRAVITY As Top Pictures Of 2013
The Los Angeles Film Critics have a history of never ever predicting the Best Picture winner at the Oscars, at least in the past 20 years. But what they do generally do is help a critical darling along to a Best Picture nomination. Whether that’s good news or bad news for Gravity is yet to be seen, but something tells me that Her, the picture Gravity tied for the best this year, just got a big shot in the arm here. In other news, Jared Leto, who tied James Franco for Best Supporting, actor continues to take the category by storm, along with Cate Blanchett, who was awarded Best Actress (here tied with Blue is the Warmest Colors‘ Adèle Exarchopoulos) and is now sweeping the early critics prizes. Blanchett is locked and loaded to win the Best Actress prize come March, while Leto looks to...

While we wait for Matthew McConaughey‘s performance in The Wolf of Wall Street to make its debut on Christmas Day, it’s easy to see that the 44-year-old actor is at the top of his game from everything else he’s been in recently. Rarely has an actor had a streak of undeniably brilliant performances like McConaughey has in the last two years. And as Oscar approaches, we have to wonder, why is McConaughey not considered a top contender in any acting category, lead or supporting, especially after being so blatantly snubbed last year. Well regardless of what the Academy and the other awards bodies think, here are six absolutely brilliant performances from Mr. McConaughey that should resoundingly prove he’s the best actor of this year… and last: 1. Mud (2013) In Mud, McConaughey gives what is arguably the best performance in his entire...

Now this is impressive. I’ll leave it at that. Just check it out: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2,...

Could X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s time travel tale head straight into the Age of Apocalypse? That may be the case after this tweet from director Bryan Singer: #Xmen #Apocalypse 2016! — Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) December 5, 2013 Singer’s Days of Future Past may already be the most expensive superhero movie so we know it isn’t a small scale project. But if that tweet has anything to say, it won’t be the most ambitious one. That would have to go to any story incorporating Apocalypse, an the Egyptian born first mutant who wields alien technology. In Age of Apocalypse, we’re thrown into an alternative timeline where Apocalypse has conquers Earth. The only mutant who is aware of this shift in time is Bishop, who just happens to be introduced in Days of Future Past. How you could contain one, or any, Apocalypse storyline...
