What Would The Headlines Look Like If THE AVENGERS Were Real?
One of the best parts of the Marvel Universe is that it’s grounded in the world we actually live in. So instead of Zod trying to destroy Metorpolis, Loki tries to destroy New York City. While we saw how the broadcast media world would react to an invasion in The Avengers, we never really got a good look at what popular publications would say about our superheroes. Well, don’t worry, because the curious ones among us have Kimba McG on our side. McG’s Tumblr page, MediAvengers: Earth’s Mightiest Gossip, takes a look at what some of the most popular pubs in America would look like if the Avengers were real. Here are just a few but be sure to visits McG’s Tumblr to see the article layouts, too: ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Source:...

Back in 1968, Lee Savage and Milton Glaser (the graphic designer who created the iconic “I ♥ NY” logo) produced an underground anti-war short featuring Mickey Mouse joining the army and going to Vietnam. And in a shocking twist, Mickey ends up dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Over at BuzzFeed, Glaser was interviewed about the video and here’s what he said about choosing to use Mickey Mouse in the short: Well, obviously Mickey Mouse is a symbol of innocence, and of America, and of success, and of idealism — and to have him killed, as a solider is such a contradiction of your expectations. And when you’re dealing with communication, when you contradict expectations, you get a result. You can watch the short film below or head over to BuzzFeed for the full interview with...

Few questions have kept us up at night like this one: Why has no one ever made the Batman theme song out of real bat noises? Well, we now know why. Give a listen to this version of the theme song, made with inaudible bat noises made audible by assigning sounds a note on a keyboard. It’s not something you’d put on your iPod, but it certainly is a great exercise in nerdery. Ulrich SeideSándor Seuntjens and Wolter Seuntjens, the folks behind the video, are science-meets-pop superstars thanks to this: Source:...

As we prepare to watch the final stages of Walt’s journey from man to monster, you should know that Bryan Cranston has a history of playing big bad beasties. Early in his career, Cranston voiced the characters Snizard and Twinman in two episodes of the beloved 90s children’s show Power Rangers. In an Reddit AMA yesterday, Cranston even noted that the Blue Ranger, whose last name is Cranston, was even named after him. In case you can’t remember who Snizard and Twinman are, here’s a video of those characters (voiced by Cranston) taking on the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Source: The...

A costume drama with drag queens? Yes, please. Like many of us, these queens were not happy with death after death in Downton Abbey season 3. So Michelle Visage, William from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Neil Patrick Harris’s even hotter other half David Burtka, among others, made a nice little spoof of the show to the tune of Madonna’s “Vogue.” This, my friends, is heaven. The only thing better would be an entire series of Downton Abbey episodes remade with drag...
