Shailene Woodley would have been an fantastic Mary Jane Watson. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Mary Jane was cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in order to streamline the story, which honestly isn’t something you hear everyday with any superhero movie. (“Pack it all in, boys,” is more common.) Unfortunately that means Woodley is out and the role will likely be recast for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is already on the schedule for June 2016. (THR) Fifty Shades of Grey now has a director. Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor-Johnson has been tapped to helm the mommie porn adaptation. (Badass Digest) Sometimes I can’t imagine life without Netflix. But then they go and do something like this: The streaming TV company has renewed one of the worst series you’ll ever see, Hemlock Grove, for a second season. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in 2016 and 2018, MAN OF STEEL 2 in 2014? – Big 6 Morning Report

Posted by on Jun 18, 2013 in Big News, The Big 6, The Pictures | 0 comments

Because Marvel staked its claim to the first weekend in May in 2015 and 2016, The Amazing Spider-Man lost its chance to become the first blockbuster of the summer in 2016. Well, Sony announced yesterday the release dates for The Amazing-Spider-Man 3 & 4, for June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018, respectively. That 2018 release may be the earliest official release date I’ve ever seen, but Sony is leaving nothing to chance with its most lucrative franchise. (Screen Rant) While the Spider-Man release dates may be way out in the future, we may be seeing a sequel to Man of Steel earlier than anyone could have imagined… in 2014. That’s right, 2014. With a Justice League movie to follow in 2015?! Well that’s what a “knowledgeable people” recently told the Wall Street Journal. It’s ambitious and since the third The Hobbit movie comes out in December 2014, it’s hard...

A few weeks ago, Universal put its plans for a fourth Jurassic Park movie on hold after an ambitious Summer 2014 opening turned out to overly ambitious. At the time, no new release information was provided making it seem like the project was permanently on hold. Thankfully, it now looks like Universal’s Colin Trevorrow-directed Jurassic Park 4 is on track for at 2015 release. (Den of Geek) Man of Steel proved Superman still had box office superpowers this weekend, opening to $125 million with $113 million over the 3-day weekend. That’s enough to give Man of Steel the biggest June opening of all time. (Deadline) Even though moviegoers flock to Man of Steel, not everyone was happy. In fact Mark Waid, the man who wrote Superman Birthright on which much of the movie is based, to issue with Superman not saving the people of Metropolis from Zod’s ship....
