There’s another American invading Downton Abbey! Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti, also known as one of the best working actors in cinema today, is set join the cast of the PBS drama series. Giamatti will play Lady Grantham’s playboy brother. He and with the re-signed Shirley MacLaine are sure to ruffle the very proper English feathers with their raucous American lifestyles. Source:...

Listen to the Theme to BATMAN Made with Real Bat Sounds

Posted by on Jun 21, 2013 in Awesome, The Web | 2 comments

Few questions have kept us up at night like this one: Why has no one ever made the Batman theme song out of real bat noises? Well, we now know why. Give a listen to this version of the theme song, made with inaudible bat noises made audible by assigning sounds a note on a keyboard. It’s not something you’d put on your iPod, but it certainly is a great exercise in nerdery. Ulrich SeideSándor Seuntjens and Wolter Seuntjens, the folks behind the video, are science-meets-pop superstars thanks to this: Source:...

Watch Henry Cavill Workout in Preparation for MAN OF STEEL

Posted by on Jun 17, 2013 in Swoon-Worthy, The Pictures | 3 comments

Before this, there was absolutely no reason for anybody to know what the National Guard’s web series Soldier of Steel was. Heck, I’m not even sure I know what it is now. All I know is that this episode of Soldier of Steel features Henry Cavill working out ahead of his starring role as Superman in Man of Steel. No words, not even Entertainment Weekly’s inappropriate tweets, can describe what you are about to witness....

Rock Hudson’s Gay Confession Recorded by His Wife

Posted by on Jun 15, 2013 in Big Mo, Swoon-Worthy | 0 comments

Rock Hudson was gay. We all know that. But back in the 1950s, movie stars weren’t gay. That didn’t stop Hudson’s wife, Phyllis, from hiring a private eye to record her confronting Hudson about his sexuality and essentially outing him on tape. The Hollywood Reporter recently obtained the secret files from Hollywood P.I. Fred Ostash, and in those files was a 1958 recording of this exchange between Hudson and Phyllis. From THR:  On January 21, 1958, Rock Hudson’s wife confronted him, demanding to know if he was gay and grilling the actor about a Rorschach test he had taken. “You told me you saw thousands of butterflies and also snakes,” she said “[A therapist] told me in my analysis that butterflies mean femininity and snakes represent that male penis. I’m not condemning you, but it seems that as long as...

What Will The GIRLS Look Like When They’re Senior Citizens?

Posted by on Jun 13, 2013 in Funny, The Tube | 0 comments

“You left your donuts by my toilet.” Honestly, there’s only so many twenty-something first world problems that you can take. But if HBO’s Girls were still alive and angsting 36 years from now, what would it look like? Like Golden Girls in New York City with a bunch of sixty-something first world problems. Check out this hilarious video for Girls Season 38 from Gail Lerner of Will & Grace fame. The video stars Laraine Newman as a 65-year-old Hannah who’s still hooking up with random guys and compulsively eating. (Even at 65, Hannah will still be the voice of her generation.) Then there’s Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland) as a gray-haired Marnie, who I mention for no other reason then she’s always fab. Start watching for the concept, but stick around for the chemo bit. Teacher Suspended for Showing SAW in Class

Posted by on Jun 12, 2013 in The Pictures, WTF | 0 comments

Of all the horror movies you would want to show your students, Saw is probably the last. I mean, there’s Sleepaway Camp. There’s Friday the 13th. There’s Halloween. Those are the movies I watched when I was around 10-years-old and I turned out perfectly fine(ish). But anything that can be described as “torture porn” shouldn’t be shown to anyone, let alone 11-year-olds. From France’s The Local: Jean-Baptiste Clément, a maths teacher at a college in Colombes, near Paris, is alleged to have shown a class full of 11-year-old pupils the infamously gruesome horror movie ‘Saw,’ on Monday. Clément told the children: “This will be your first horror film,” according to French radio Europe 1. According to a father of one of the pupils at the school in Hautes-de-Seine, in the north-western suburbs of Paris, he first discovered the extraordinary screening when his young...
