Sure, a Best Supporting Actress Oscar is nice, but it’s no Best Actress trophy. Jennifer Hudson may have her eye on the big prize, as she has signed on to star as Winnie Mandela in Winnie. Variety reports that J-Hud will play the controversial ex-wife of former South African president Nelson Mandela. Winnie was a steadfast anti-Apartheid activist, but later in life was accused by her bodyguard of being involved in murder, and also convicted of fraud. BURLESQUE gets steamy! Eric Dane joins the movie musical cast

Director Steve Antin’s Burlesque has added another cast member. Grey’s Anatomy‘s Eric “McSteamy” Dane will join Christina Aguilera, Cher, Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet and Stanley Tucci in the movie musical, according to THR. The film follows a small-town girl trying to make it as a neo-burlesque club performer in the City of Angels. Dane will play a wealthy businessman who saunters into Cher’s nightclub with his checkbook in hand, only to have Aguilera steal his heart. Not only has his name been mentioned as a potential director for the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Miss Saigon, but now he may take on the 1965 Civil Rights marches that originated in Selma, Alabama.
