J.K. Rowling Will Produce A Stage Play About Harry Potter’s Early Years
As if a new set of spin-off movies wasn’t enough, J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World will be resurrected once again… this time on stage.
USA Today reports that Rowling is set to produce—but not write—a stage play for London’s West End that will focus on Harry Potter‘s early years before heading to Hogwarts. So if you’ve ever wanted to see what child abuse looks like up close, man are you in for a treat.
According to USA Today, Rowling said she received a number of pitches for stage plays over the years, but this pitch, from TV producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender “was the only one that really made sense to me, and which had the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy I thought appropriate for bringing Harry’s story to the stage.”
Just don’t go planning your trip to London quite yet. The show doesn’t have a premiere date, but is expected to open in the next two years.
