Drew Goddard Officially Boards Netflix & Marvel’s DAREDEVIL
Whedon-ite and lifelong Daredevil fan Drew Goddard will write and direct the first episode of Marvel’s first Netflix series Daredevil, it was announced today.
I’m not familiar enough with the source material to comment on the merits of a Goddard’s Hornhead, but I do know that Goddard has been an instrumental part of the Whedon-verse for decades. Most recently he directed a script he co-wrote with Whedon for a little movie you might know called Cabin in the Woods. That resulted in one of the best horror pictures of the past 15 years.
Goddard won’t leave after the first episode either. The writer/director will also stay on a showrunner and executive producer of the 13-episode season. Daredevil, of course, is just the first in a series of shows that will be produced for Netflix, including adaptations of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
Whatever happens, we’re almost guaranteed a show that’s better than that Affleck movie.
