Wonder Woman Officially Joins BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN
The rumors have been swirling for weeks and now we finally know Wonder Woman will appear in the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel. Zack Snyder made it official, announcing that Gal Gadot of The Fast and the Furious franchise will play the iconic female superhero. In a statement, first reported on Deadline, Snyder said:
Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.
Previously it was reported that Thor star Jaimie Alexander was in talks with Warner Bros. about the character, though not necessary for casting. And Olga Kurylenko was said to have tested for the role. In the end it went to Gal, who is obviously the best choice because she used to do this:
I’m sure Fast and Furious fans will have something to say about Gadot being awesome. For most reading this, it’ll be the first time you even heard her name. But at least you have her lingerie commercial, so now you can get the sense of how Gadot will approach this feminist icon.
