JURASSIC WORLD Takes Place In Real Time, 22 Years After JURASSIC PARK
Given Hollywood’s obsession with reboots, it’s not that crazy to think that Jurassic World, the follow-up to Jurassic Park directed by Colin Trevorrow, would be a reboot rather than a sequel. But in fact, it may be a combination of both.
When Twitterer @pcbains916 asked Trevorrow whether Jurassic World was in fact a reboot, Trevorrow responded with this vague, but informative, answer:
@pfcbains916 Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park.

So is it a reboot? Or a sequel? It seems like it might have more in common with the semi-reboot of the X-Men franchise X-Men: First Class or the next Transformers movie than it does a strict franchise relaunch like Nolan’s Batman movies. But we at least know it takes place in the same universe as the first film, even if the survival horror premise is expanded to dino-pocalyptic scales.
We do know that JP regulars like Sam Neill won’t be back, replaced with a new cast that includes Bryce Dallas Howard and Ty Simpkins, with Chris Platt potentially joining them. If Jurassic World turns out to be a hit, then maybe both world will collide in a sequel to Jurassic World.
