While all eyes are on what’s happening with Batman Vs. Superman, the CW is busy building it’s DC superhero stable on TV. Between the success of Arrow and the upcoming spinoff The Flash, the broadcast network has proven more successful in building an viable superhero universe than any of the cinematic iterations over the past two decades. Now, the CW is in the early stages of bringing Golden Age hero Hourman to the small screen.

According to Deadline, which first reported the project development:

The project centers on a brilliant yet troubled pharmaceutical analyst who discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way.

Good news for DC superhero fans. But there may be a downside, too.

The show is being written and executive produced by Michael Caleo (Ironside), which may indicate that there’s no crossover between the Hourman series and the DC series developed by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. The permise, however, certainly indicated a divergence from the comic book mythology, where Hourman was able to get super powers for one-hour thanks to the vitamin supplement Miraclo. And that difference makes it more grounded in reality, not unlike the show Arrow.

Even if Hourman isn’t part of the ever-expanding Arrow-verse, it’ll be interesting to see this modern take on a Golden Age hero.
