Ant Man Moves to Summer

Two big stars are up for the role of one little superhero.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd have been shortlisted for the lead in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. The Marvel adaptation will follow The Avengers: Age of Ultron  in theaters in 2015, kicking off Marvel’s Phase 3. And it will be an important step  because we know that a lot of the current Avengers won’t be around forever. Ant-Man, along with potentials like Dr. Strange and The Black Panther, will have to introduce new blood into what will already be an aging franchise by 2015.

But back to Ant-Man casting. Normally I’d be behind JGL 100 percent, but something tells me that Rudd is the man for the job here. I’d love to see what he can do with a superhero role. The comedy star seems more like a Marvel guy than JGL anyway, and not just because Gordon-Levitt became Batman at the end of The Dark Knight Rises.

Of course, Variety notes in their story that another actor may be added to this shortlist, but with filming set to start soon, Marvel and Wright will have to choice their wee hero sooner rather than later.
