Is Elizabeth Olsen Marvel’s Scarlet Witch in AVENGERS 2?
Elizabeth Olsen, the talented sister of a pair of less talented twins, is now the frontrunner for the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, according to Bleeding Cool.
Word is Saorise Ronan, Joss Whedon’s first choice, turned down the role, leaving it open for the less established, but equally talented Olsen to swoop in to take her place.
Anyone who has seen Martha Marcy May Marlene, would agree that Olsen is one hell of an actress, so she’s a welcome addition to this or any cast. And playing a female character for Whedon? Well, there’s no greater claim to pop culture fame than that.
Unencumbered by back story (that’s owned by Fox), it should be interesting to see how Olsen’s Scarlet Witch turns out in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe… especially if she, like Quicksilver, ever ends up in Fox’s X-Men Cinematic Universe.
