Harrison Ford Wants An INDIANA JONES Sequel Even Though No One Else Does
Watching Harrison Ford play Dr. Jones in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was almost as depressing as watching a post-stroke Dick Clark on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. He’s not the action star that he used to be. But at least Ford knows it.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Ford looks at potentially reprising his role as Dr. Jones for a fifth movie this way:
We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass… To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do.
Ford may be able to play an action-less Indy with courage, wit and intelligence, but none of those things were in the fourth movie’s script. Chances are they wouldn’t be in a fifth either.
At this point, I’d rather see an Indiana Jones reboot than another film from Spielberg, Lucas and Ford. If only franchise wasn’t permanently tied to Paramount Pictures, we might be able to see what Disney could pull off with the character.
