What’s In Store For BREAKING BAD’s Final Season
This month, we will all begin to find out how the epic journey of Walter White will end. Breaking Bad is already considered one of the greatest shows currently on television — and one of the greatest shows in the history of television so far — then you can’t wait for the mid-Aug premiere date to access the show through GetDirectTV.org or your cable or satellite provider. These final eight episodes will close out the fifth and final season of the incredible series, with a two-hour series finale.
The Evolution of the Series
The series has become one of the best because of the evolution of Walter White, a push-over chemistry teacher who lives in Albuquerque. He has a pregnant wife, a disabled son and a teaching job that doesn’t pay him very well, forcing him to work part time at a car wash. He also finds out he has terminal cancer in the opening scenes, forcing him to become desperate. Soon Walt links up with an ex-student of his named Jesse who is now making and dealing crystal meth. His plan is to make a lot of crystal meth, sell it and leave behind the money for his family — doing something illegal but for the greater good.
After proving he can make great crystal meth, due to his acute knowledge of chemistry, Walter and Jesse begin a long, disturbing road deep into the drug dealing and producing business, working their way up the chain from low-level street dealers to gang members to kingpins who deal with major cartels in Mexico. Each of these big mistakes, if you will, are dealt with each season, until it’s Walt and Jesse left by season five — making the chemistry teacher with terminal cancer and arguably the best meth in the world the new kingpin of the drug empire.
The Incredible Characters and Actors
The world is something daring and new for television, even in an age where Tony Soprano has stolen our hearts. The violence and edginess in Breaking Bad is almost unmatched in anything that came out before it (though there’s an argument Game of Thrones is vying for that title), and the key aspects of the show are what truly give it legs to become the incredible work it’s thought of today.
The cast is incredible at all levels, but the main players like Bryan Cranston who plays Walt, Aaron Paul who plays Jesse and Anna Gunn who plays Walt’s wife are top notch in every frame they appear in. That’s probably why they have all won or been nominated for numerous television awards for their efforts.
The writing and directing are also spectacular, much of which should be attributed to the mad genius Vince Gilligan, who cut his teeth as an executive producer on The X-Files. You’ll be challenged to find a more masterfully constructed and executed show ever made, to this point.
Where It Will Go
It’s tough to say exactly what will happen as the promos have shown nothing newly created. However, if one were to speculate, it would be fair to assume that Walt’s DEA brother-in-law would begin investigating his theory that Walt is actually the kingpin. And it would be fair to assume he catches him, and Walt declares war, which is why he has a massive machine gun in a scene at the beginning of season five. And it would also be fair to assume Walt dies in the end because that’s what happens to bad guys, especially the ones who have terminal cancer. But who knows exactly, which is why it will be so much fun to watch.
