SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION Crosses The Million Vote Mark On IMDB
What’s the best movie of all time? That’s a question that will cause fist fights and flame wars until the end of time. Citizen Kane? Vertigo? The Godfather? Well, over at IMDB, the No. 1 movie on its Top 250 movies list is The Shawshank Redemption, a movie that everybody, and I mean everybody, loves. I assume the people who voted for Forrest Gump for Best Picture over this movie back in 1994 regret their choice as much as I do voting for Obama instead of Hillary.
Shawshank has been at the top of that list on and off for a decade or so, occasionally being bumped by hot new movies (The Dark Knight, Return of the King) while trading places with The Godfather now and then. But none of those movies can claim this: The Shawshank Redemption is the first movie in IMDB history to get 1 million votes. And those million votes put it at a 9.2/10. Not a bad run for a movie that may be the most underrated Hollywood classic of all time.
